Challenge Information Document
FRR has been organising events and challenges for over 3 years, with the reputation for being more than a little different,
certainly challenging but always rewarding at the end - there is no better place than Mont Ventoux known as Ventop in our Zwifting World,
for us to hold our FIRST Annual Charity Club Challenge as it represents everything that everyone knows and enjoys about FRR
Ventoux is an iconic mountain in real life, the longest climbing challenge on Zwift, requiring planning and plenty of resolve to complete each and every ascent - it is a place
that FRR considers to be its virtual HQ with our flag firmly planted on the top. So what better place to stage our 24 HOUR CLUB Challenge pushing
ourselves against virtual gravity to the iconic radio tower with its red and white mast drawing us ever closer to the summit and by doing so we hope to raise some funds.
HOW WILL FUNDS BE USED ?
We have no target in mind as this is purely down to those who give - all we do know is that:
HOW MUCH SHOULD I DONATE ?
All we ask is that riders who take part donate at least the minimum amount using the cental donation location operated by Justgiving but please share with friends and family so they have the opportunity to reward your efforts and perhaps twist your arm to do another ascent for a few pounds more! Funds will be collated and distributions made once the event closes,
donations are requested to be received by May 25th
HOW DO I ENTER AN EVENT ?
Zwift have kindly agreed to allow us an open Companion event to start every 30 minutes starting at
0700 BST May 18th I'll be in that event to get the day kicked off and rolling. By being open any rider can join anytime, we can then track results,
times ascents etc... and if you are doing multiple ascents then you can simply complete, save and join the next event which will always be at most 30 minutes away from starting.. no need to waste time descending!
FRR are offering the following carrots for participation and most importantly for Donations over the duration of the event

HOW ARE THE ASCENTS COUNTED ?
Events will be resulted on Zwiftpower, we will simply track results - however if you are doing multiple ascents as part of one continuous challenge like vEverest then start one of the FRR events and just keep going, once you complete your journey send
Race Control the Strava activity and we will do the rest.
DO I NEED TO REGISTER TO RIDE ?
New Riders to FRR must create an account so we can credit your ascents for the Club challenge just click the registration button below - Existing FRR Riders will be automatically
enrolled (of course that doesn't mean you have to ride!) it just means less admin!

Why CFC ?
Back in 2015 I did my first Marmotte with CFC following an introduction as I wanted to do the event. CFC were fantastic in how they organised their riders and
gave all the support needed to help raise funds. I managed to raise around £1,000 - though I did suffer that day in 45 degrees heat in the hottest ever Marmotte race event but it was worth it as my pain was only temporary.
Since 2015 I have kept a watchful eye on what's happening and whether our paths could cross again, linking up with CFC now makes perfect sense so I'm really pleased we can
through FRR events help raise funds to help CFC continue their life changing support.
Our events are free to enter but not free to promote and host, the discretionary gifts we receive are very much appreciated in helping keep the FRR bike on the road and now with this link up in getting
funds to CFC where a bike will benefit lives far beyond just exercise and fitness.
I thank everyone who takes the time and is moved enough to make any gift but equally appreciate everyone person who give their time in our events.
Our promise is simple...
20% of what we raise we give
Now let me introduce CFC using their own words...
Cyclists Fighting Cancer (CFC) is a registered charity founded in 2005 and we give new lightweight bikes, tandems and specially adapted trikes to children and young people living with and beyond cancer throughout the UK.
Approximately 2,400 children and young people up to and including the age of 18 are diagnosed with cancer every year in the UK and we are passionate about helping all these families along this difficult journey.
Exercise has been shown in numerous adult studies to be the single most effective way of improving both physical and mental wellness for people surviving cancer. We encourage cycling as the best form of exercise based rehabilitation especially for children because it provides all these benefits in a low impact, fun, sociable and exciting way. For more information about the benefits of exercise and activity for people living with and beyond cancer please see our Cancer and Exercise page on this website.
Cancer also causes massive disruption in families, therefore where possible we also give bikes to their siblings, and in some cases their parents so that they can take part in an activity as a family once again after what can be years of hospitalisation and upheaval. We now aim to supply around 600 awards each year which will take our total since we started in 2005 to over 8000 awards.
We also fund a network of Cancer Exercise Specialists who work closely with the twenty-one paediatric oncology units around the country to promote activity, exercise, a healthy lifestyle and our services. We run workshops, attend end of treatment days, activity days and have provided several hospital units with exercise equipment to help with rehabilitation. Adopting a healthy active lifestyle at an early age means these practices will be carried on into adulthood, establishing good life-long habits.
In 2017 CFC funded a dedicated research study with the University of Leeds entitled Cycling Through Cancer to clearly illustrate the relationship between physical and mental well being and physical activity in children surviving cancer. Our main focus is raising awareness of the benefits of activity and exercise for children and adults living with and beyond cancer.
We operate totally on the kind support of our amazing fundraisers taking part and putting on events from coffee mornings, sponsored walks, runs and bike rides in the UK, to world record attempts abroad. All monies donated make a huge difference to our total fundraising effort and ultimately to the number of children affected by cancer we support.

Why BHF ?
The support and engagement of Team DIRT throughout the FRR events has been fully appreciated with Allan Georgiou-Park aka Parky being their organising mastermind - Parky first introduced us to the
Foundation with his fund raising efforts in 2023 and when he mentioned he was fund raising in May then the decision was made to create our first global fund raising event and do something to help support
a member who has supported FRR and many other riders throughout our events.
We are therefore pleased to be connecting with the
BODIE
Hodges Foundation
and below tells you a little more about their journey and what they aim to deliver.
We are a family who following the death of our beautiful 10-month-old son, Bodie, wanted to offer support to other bereaved families. The death of a child is isolating and lonely and it can be hard to ask for help or know how we want to be supported.
We were blessed to be given time away from home to be together as a family and to show our daughter that life would somehow continue and that out of tragedy comes hope. The acts of kindness that we received from others led us to decide to support other families bereaved of a child and to do good things in Bodie’s name.
The BODIE Hodges Foundation was formed in 2013, to support families who have been bereaved of a child of any age and to promote organ donation. Over the last 10 years we have listened to the families that we have met along the way and reflected on how our own grief has changed over time.
Our vision remains the same to give hope to families bereaved of a child by providing a range of services that support grieving families and encourage them to rebuild and remember. The charity is run by its founders Nick and Donna and there are also employees and volunteers who have also experienced the death of a child.
We believe that it is this love and understanding, alongside our lived experience that has enabled us to welcome so many families. We will continue to work hard to provide services that support families.
